Metro firms join N.B.
trade mission to Florida

    "The product we created is fairly new so other products we've made or sold in the past have been sort of more focused on Atlantic Canada," he said. "Where this is brand new we want to take advantage of ex-porting and expanding our market before everybody else does."
    The company is already selling its products in Wisconsin and North Carolina but hopes to branch into Oregon and Washington.
    Other Moncton area companies participating include Lexi-tech International from Dieppe, P&E Manufacturing Ltd. Form Bas-Cap-Pele, Triangle Kitchen Ltd. of Dieppe, and Tin Design of Sackville.
    The Team Atlantic trade missions are designed to open new opportunities for businesses to increase exports to select U.S. markets. According to the provincial government the 11 previous trade trips to the U.S. helped more than 300 Atlantic Canadian businesses increase their export sales to more than $36 million.
    Representatives from five Metro Moncton companies will go to Florida later this month on a trade mission with the hopes of increasing exports to the United States.
    The Team Canada Atlantic Mission will visit Orlando, Tampa and Miami from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. In total 13 New Brunswick companies are taking part in the trip.
    "I think we have a very diverse group of participants, they're all very excited and enthused about opening up new markets for themselves and it looks like it's going to be another successful mission," said Greg Byrne, minister of Business New Brunswick.
    One local company heading to Florida is Al-Pack Enterprises Ltd. The company is participating in its first trade mission to promote its biodegradable garbage bags for compost waste.
